Agriculture is the 2nd largest sector in Alberta.
In addition, a study conducted by Statistics Canada and Agri-Food Canada published in July 2017 shows that Alberta has the most Francophone workers in the agricultural sector.
It is to meet the needs of this clientele that the CDÉA remains on the lookout for economic development projects and initiatives that could affect both this clientele and English-speaking farmers.
In the spring of 2017, the CDÉA received support from the Government of Alberta under the CARES Program to develop the hemp fibre industry, a crop that is increasingly popular in various sectors (automotive, residential, etc.).
Through regional commitment and private sector involvement, the long-term goal is to see at least two hemp fibre hulling plants built. We invite you to consult this site for some results: HANA-Alberta
