
Rendez-vous d’affaires 2020: A Huge Success!

Calgary, Tuesday, February 11, 2020 – On February 7 and 8, the Conseil de développement économique de l’Alberta held its Rendez-vous d’affaires 2020 in front of some 125 participants at the Sheraton Cavalier in Calgary.
Under the honorary chairmanship of Gisèle Danis, this annual Francophone business meeting was kicked off by Laila Goodridge, Parliamentary Secretary for the Francophonie of the Government of Alberta. This was followed by a conference by Dominic Gagnon, co-founder of Connect&Go, whose topic was “The best way to predict the future is to invent it”.

On Saturday, participants had access to a series of highly relevant panels and workshops on topics such as mentoring, options of finance, social media and immigration. Testimonials from young entrepreneurs, tourism experts and owners of atypical businesses for the 18 and over (distillery and cannabis retailer) were also presented.
Not to mention the BDC’s ever-popular conference given by Pierre Cléroux, Vice-President, Research and Chief Economist, on the theme “The New Face of Entrepreneurship in Canada.” For his part, Nicolas Duvernois, CEO of Pur Vodka and romeo’s gin and co-founder of Adopte-inc. presented the closing conference under the theme “Entrepreneurship at its purest: from night janitor to the inventor of the best vodka in the world”.

Six Entrepreneurs Awarded
On Saturday evening, the Gala of Alberta SME Award 2020 was held in the presence of Calgary-Falconbridge MLA Devinder Toor and Travel Alberta’s CEO Royce Chwin. During this Gala, six Francophone entrepreneurs from Alberta were honored. The following laureates were awarded:
Immigrant Entrepreneur : Banyk Chia, Alternative Legal Service Firm (Edmonton)
